Gina Prince-Bythewood
Talk about an Amazing Woman! As an aspiring black female filmmaker, I am more than inspired when I see fantastic films created by African American Women. Gina Prince-Blythewood is the creator of one of the absolute favorites in and outside of the African American community, Love and Basketball 2000!! This film was also produced by Spike Lee (our other fantastic spotlight Director of the day). All of her films, however, display stories of Love and Acceptance, each leaving you with a sense of HOPE. Amongst numerous television shows/episodes, she has most recently blessed us with the inspirational film, The Secret Life of Bees 2008. If you have yet to do so, all of my brothers and sisters need to check out her work!!! BE inspired.
